Along the Bhagirathi
In early 2022, I was Commissioned by the Embassy of Switzerland in India and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation to document water management in the Himalayas and measures taken to mitigate natural disasters caused by environmental factors in the Bhagirathi Valley, Uttarakhand.
The brief included pre-identified locations where human intervention has helped mitigate disasters such as landslides and flooding. Another aspect of the project was also to document the efficient rural water management programs that helped irrigate farmlands and supply drinking water in remote regions of the Himalayas.
